We made it. At least to Frankfurt.
No injuries, accidents or incidents ..... so far.
After spending a day and a half with the grandkids, we left feeling refreshed and invigorated. [read: stuffed but happy!!] I took many photos that I am unfortunately loath to share, partly due to not wanting to invade their privacy but mainly because I am the older person who does not really understand social media enough to use it safely. So cliche......
Teeny tiny hitch as the hire car which was to take us from Woy Woy to the airport for our flight was late. They had failed to take into account the Good Friday traffic out of Sydney and were caught up in the holiday traffic driving out of Sydney. The poor driver was almost an hour late. I was not too concerned as we had heaps of time. Not everyone however was so sanguine. The hire car company and the poor driver were the recipients of some strongly worded advice and feedback.
Anyway we made it to the airport with time to spare in a very comfortable Mercedes van. No complaints there. (!)
From then on it was easy. Particularly with the combination of Business class and disability assistance. The concierge wheeling the wheelchair navigated all the passport stuff, immigration and delivered us to the business class lounge in record time.
The business class lounge was even good for gluten bloody free food. I am feeling hopeful that my dining experience may be better this time. The plate below was just the beginning.
Once on board, a first drink:
The wheel chair service at all the airports has been one of the best things making our lives so much easier. We arrived at Frankfurt today and actually had to wait a few minutes for the wheelchair. There are usually a few other people waiting and there have been a few times when I have felt a little bit guilty. However the airports have been huge particularly Frankfurt with large distances to traverse. Today we arrived in Frankfurt and are staying in the airport hotel overnight before our flight to Split tomorrow. We had to use 6 lifts, one train and lots of walking to get to the hotel in the airport!!! Not only was the distance a problem, but I doubt we would have found the hotel.
Anyway we have had our nice (expensive) dinner and tomorrow, the concierge will pick us up with the wheelchair to board our flight to Split.
Stay tuned......
