Food to die for

 Sunday 11th May 2025

Today's breakfast was almost back to the breakfasts last time we were here. Not quite as much but some yoghurt and fruit as well as gluten free biscuits.  There were some nice pastries for normal people as well. But I no complain.

After breakfast,  we ventured to the cemetery which sounds strange but it is quite a beautiful place and we wanted to see the resting place of our relatives, including our grandparents, dad's parents.

And then it was time for lunch (pranzo) with Gianfranco and Patrizia and some of the family, only 11 of us.

this liqueur was in the strawberries. So good. Lamberto, my cousin in the background

I did not take photos of our meal but it was fantastic including a separate pasta for me and  my chicken and veg cooked separately. Unbelievable.

They all had crustada with the chocolate and nuts. In fact, Patrizia taught mum how to make it. Consensus, maybe mum's was slightly better.   Obviously i cannot judge.

That was a huge lunch after which we went back to the hotel to rest and recover.  And then a nice walk in the village to see some of the sights. A lot has changed since the last time and some buildings are older and sadder.

We then got stuck in a huge downpour and needed to be driven back.

We had a quiet evening having a drink in the Faustina as we were too full to eat anything else.

Tomorrow Gubbio!

And in case you are wondering, I forgot to ask my younger cousins to assist with removing the damn earring so it remains!
