Today we had a big brekkie in preparation for our flight to Rome and the lack of any gluten free food for one of us on the plane.
As we waited for the taxi to the airport, they advised they would be 10 minutes late so I made a decision I would live to regret. I went to the bathroom and found that I had locked myself in. What a nightmare! I could not unlock the door. Just for context, I had gone down one floor to the gym level and I had no phone. There was also no one else there unless they were at the gym. I panicked a little. But quickly into problem solving mode, I started banging on the door and screaming for help. It was a Midnight Express moment. (OK that is a bit much but I wanted to bring that in.)
I had Paul waiting for the taxi and me and I was locked in with no way to communicate. We were going to miss the taxi, our plane and the whole trip. Yes I was catastrophising all over the place.
But then I heard an English voice and heard the door click open. OMG the relief. A nice older man with his wife and god knows what they were doing anywhere near the gym. But he saved me and then even helped me up the stairs. It was a miracle.
The taxi finally arrived and it was the most luxurious taxi/minibus ever.
The airport was uneventful as we had the wheelchair and concierge to take us through all the shortcuts. He guided us through crowds of people making them part for us. A bit like Moses.
Dramas with the taxi at the airport as always but finally we arrived at the Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel. It is an old convent and looks amazing. Mum would be so happy. She worked in a convent/orphanage. Probably not a lot like this one.
It is a bit of a maze with levels that don't make sense and 3 different lifts going to different places. We have been a bit confused many times so far.
A special entree from the chef who felt sorry for me. Asparagus in some sort of almost pastry with cheese. Wonderful. I wanted to cry.
