Today we disembark the boat, I mean ship. More tearful farewells as the lovely cat couple suggest we met up in Dubrovnik over the next couple of days. He is a travel agent and has given us his card. This could be very helpful. And they are really nice and they love cats. Sold!
And so it is bye bye Lady Eleganza. We will miss your free and flowing alcohol and food and the nice crew and people on board.
The next stage of our journey is a taxi to Cavtat, a town just down and around the coast. Chosen for it quietness and flatness, it is also very beautiful.
As we are early to book into the Supetar Hotel, we go for a walk around the peninsula. We could have got into a different room early but not the upgraded one. We voted for the upgraded one and went for a walk instead.
There is a beautiful path all the way around the peninsula and should take about 40 minutes. (For us maybe 2 hours!)
But first a church, St Mary of the Snow. It is tiny but still has an extremely ornate alter.
And then we walk.
We came across many rock pools accessible by ancient stone steps. So beautiful.
IT is meant to be circle but i went the wrong way and we ended up walking much further in the wrong direction. OK mea colpa. After Paul suggested nicely that we were going in the wrong direction, i asked some passing walkers who happened to be Irish, spoke some sort of English and knew where they were. Yes I was going in the wrong direction, but a really easy mistake to make according to this lovely couple. Finally we were going in the right direction and after completing a 2 hour walk, with quite a few steps, we arrived back at the hotel.
And it is definitely a 5 star. The lobby, wine bar, everything was great as the manager showed us around the hotel. And it had a lift!!!!!!
Nice bed and weird wall paper, a pink pineapple theme. After our hot, lengthy walk, we decided to have a swim in the pool. Very nice and a comfortable 26 degrees. It felt colder but certainly warmer then the 14 degree Adriatic. I do not complain.
Surely it was time for more food. We need to forage for food now we are off the ship and 3 course lunches and dinners. We decide we will definitely be cutting back on food. But instead of just having fruit, we decide we need real food.
A nearby restaurant advertised the availability of gluten free food. Got me.
So I ordered a gluten free sandwich as advertised and some chips and some gluten free beer. Paul also had pizza and real beer for a real man.
However the waitress decided i should try a gluten free pizza.
It was really nice and i thought was a good substitute for the sandwich i had actually ordered. But then she arrived with the sandwich as well. (Looked at me and decided i was a big eater??) I tried to eat some of it but the pizza was much nicer.
In the end we probably had less than a ship lunch but more than we should have had. I say 'we' but mean 'I'.
And then more walking.
After a little rest and working on stuff, it is time to go out for dinner, more foraging. This is hard.
However we start with a drink in the wine bar in the hotel as below. We really need more alcohol.
